Molten Lava Cake

Ingredients

Servings: 4
Yield: 4 molten lava cakes
  • 4 squares /4oz Baker's Semi-Sweet Chocolate
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup powdered (icing) sugar
  • 2 whole eggs
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 6 tbsp flour
  •  

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 425F
  2. Grease 4 small ramekins with butter, place on baking sheet
  3. Microwave chocolate and butter in a large microwaveable bowl on high for 1 minute and whisk until chocolate is completely melted (be careful the bowl might be hot!)
  4. Add sugar, whole eggs and egg yolks; stir well
  5. Fold in flour
  6. Spoon into ramekins
  7. Bake for 13 to 14 min (sides of desserts should be firm but centers are still soft)
  8. Cool for 1 min
  9. Slowly and carefully run small spatula or knife around cakes to loosen; invert into dessert plates
  10. Serve with whipped cream or top with ice cream and raspberries

    This is one of our favourite family recipes. Timing is the trick! Leave it in too long and you basically have cake and no "lava" :)
